For fly-in lodges, outpost camps and drive-to resorts across Canada.

American guests paying in US dollars, Canadian tax on every bill, boats at the dock and a floatplane schedule to keep. Malvavisco runs the week without mixing the currencies or the boats.

What does a Canadian fishing lodge need from its software?

Fishing lodge and outfitter software in Canada has to keep US-dollar and Canadian-dollar bookings apart, apply HST or GST and PST, and schedule fly-in legs, outpost camps, boats and floatplanes without double-booking. Malvavisco does those things in English, Spanish or Portuguese. It has no French interface, card processing or online booking, so Quebec outfitters may prefer another tool.

What a Canadian lodge needs, and what Malvavisco does about it

Plain answers, including the parts that stay in your accounting system.

Pricing in US dollars

Many northern lodges publish their rates in US dollars because most of their guests are American. In Malvavisco you can keep USD rates for those guests and CAD rates for Canadians. A booking never mixes the two, and reports never add them together. How multi-currency reports work.

Canadian sales tax

Tax rules are yours to define. In Ontario that might be a single 13% HST rule; in Manitoba or Saskatchewan, GST and a provincial sales tax as two rules. Each rule is a percentage or a fixed amount, included or added on top, and versioned when rates change. Malvavisco does not file returns; your accountant still does.

Full service, housekeeping and outposts

Full-service rooms with meals, housekeeping cabins where guests cook for themselves and fly-in outpost camps are all places in one calendar. Rooms can be assigned for the whole stay or night by night, with capacity checked.

Boats, motors and floatplanes

Boats, motors, floatplanes and trucks are assets. Fly-in legs and guided days are services scheduled with the assets they use, and Malvavisco refuses a second assignment for the same hours.

Deposits and payments

Deposit and cancellation policies, payment schedules and reminder emails keep next year’s bookings on track. Staff record cash, bank transfers, card-terminal payments and other methods such as cheques, each with its receipt; online card payments are not built in.

Fly-in manifests

The arrivals and departures report lists every guest arriving or leaving on a date, which is the base of a fly-in manifest. Weights, seat plans and the pilot’s copy are not built in; see the fly-in manifest and rooming list guide.

If you would rather convert currencies

Malvavisco never converts. LodgeRunner’s Canada page says it retrieves current exchange rates, can convert currencies when recording payments and works with the Moneris gateway (source, checked on 23 October 2026). If you want the system to convert a bill at today’s rate, that is the better fit; see Malvavisco vs LodgeRunner.

Quebec outfitters (pourvoiries)

Malvavisco has no French staff interface, and its printed invoice is not a fiscal document. If your team works in French, choose a tool that does. Reservit Canada, with offices in Montreal and Toronto, sells outfitter software in French and English, with a booking engine and pricing by number of units, according to its own page (checked on 23 October 2026).

Guides and seasonal staff

Give each guide skills and languages and a role in the app. The staff app runs in English, Spanish or Portuguese, set for the whole workspace. For guided fishing weeks, see fishing lodge software and hunting lodge software.

Malvavisco suits your Canadian lodge if…

A good fit

  • You price in US dollars for American guests and CAD for Canadians
  • Boats, planes or outpost camps are scheduled by hand today
  • Some stays include meals and others don’t
  • You take deposits a year ahead and chase balances by email
  • You want the bar and the shop on the same bill as the room

…and it may not be the right fit yet if:

  • Guests must book and pay online on your website
  • You need card processing (Moneris, Stripe or similar) built in
  • Your staff need the app in French
  • You need fishing licences sold or tracked per guest

Canadian lodges ask us

Yes. Keep rates in each currency. Every booking uses one currency, payments are recorded in that currency, and reports show USD and CAD separately rather than adding them together.

You can set up HST, or GST and PST, as tax rules that apply to your prices. Malvavisco calculates them on the bill; it does not file your returns.

Not yet. The staff app runs in English, Spanish or Brazilian Portuguese, set for the whole workspace.

Not online. Staff record card-terminal, cash and bank-transfer payments, and other methods such as cheques, with their receipts. Card processing is not built in.

It depends on what you need most. LodgeRunner has a Canada page, works with Moneris and takes online bookings; Reservit Canada works in French and English for Quebec outfitters. Malvavisco fits lodges that want USD and CAD kept apart, guides, boats and planes scheduled, and a staff app in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
