What is the best Mallard Bay alternative?

It depends on what you want to change. If guests book and pay online and you want marketing from the same company, Mallard Bay is hard to beat, and many outfitters should stay. If your guests stay several days and the hard part is the week itself, with named guides and boats, meals for every guest and a bar tab on one bill, or your team works in Spanish, try Malvavisco.

What Mallard Bay does well

From Mallard Bay’s own website, checked on 23 October 2026.

Mallard Bay calls itself outfitter experience management software for hunting and fishing outfitters, charters and lodges: one dashboard and a mobile app for bookings, quotes, the calendar, payments, clients and leads, forms and waivers, email and text automations, and reporting (source).

  • Online bookings from several places. Guests book from a Mallard Bay website, a booking widget on your own site (Wix, WordPress or custom HTML), a quote link or a listing on the Mallard Bay marketplace. Bookings taken by phone go in as internal bookings (features, FAQ).
  • Lodging and resources. Rooms, lodges, guides, boats and vehicles each have their own availability, assigned automatically when a booking is made or added afterwards (source).
  • Payments. Stripe checkout with deposits, balance timing, a booking tax rate and coupons; payouts to your bank in about two business days; Group Pay so each guest pays their share; Tap to Pay or a card reader in the mobile app; cash and checks logged against the booking (features, FAQ).
  • Waivers. A liability waiver form with a signature field, attached to listings so it becomes part of booking, with signed submissions stored (source).
  • Sales tools. A leads inbox, quotes that turn into bookings when the guest pays, client lists with custom fields, trip insurance, and add-ons such as gear rental and meal packages at checkout (source).
  • Marketing services. Custom websites, Google Business Profile setup, managed paid ads, SEO, and a sales team that contacts your leads (source).
  • Integrations. QuickBooks Online, and calendar feeds from Google, Outlook, Apple, Airbnb or Vrbo that block dates. Mallard Bay notes these imports block dates but don’t create bookings (source).
  • Help. Susie, an AI assistant inside the dashboard, support seven days a week, and a team that sets up your account after the demo (source).

When to choose each

Stay with Mallard Bay, or choose it, if…

  • Guests should book and pay online, from your site, a quote link or a marketplace
  • You want your website, ads and lead follow-up from the same company as your booking software
  • You sell mostly day hunts, charters or trips, and want Group Pay, Tap to Pay and trip insurance
  • You want waivers signed as part of booking
  • You want to start on a free plan

Choose Malvavisco if…

  • Guests stay several nights and every stay includes guided days, meals and a bar
  • You want each outing scheduled with a named guide and the boat, horse or vehicle it needs, with overlap checks
  • The kitchen needs meal counts and a dietary brief, and drinks and shop sales should land on the guest’s bill with stock counts
  • Your team works in Spanish, or in Spanish and English
  • You want separate roles for the front desk, guides, kitchen, housekeeping and finance

What Mallard Bay’s pages don’t cover

We found no mention of kitchen tools, a bar or shop with stock, licenses or tags, currencies other than the one you sell in, interface languages other than English, or offline use. If any of that matters, ask Mallard Bay during its demo. For a wider field, see the best hunting lodge software and best fishing lodge software comparisons, or how Malvavisco runs a hunting lodge.

Free migration from Mallard Bay to Malvavisco

Malvavisco’s team moves you over from Mallard Bay at no charge. Send us what Mallard Bay exports (spreadsheets of bookings and guests, or screenshots of your settings) and we:

  1. Set up your rooms or cabins, rates, services, guides, boats, horses or vehicles, and staff roles.
  2. Enter every upcoming booking, with the deposits already received recorded as payments.
  3. Load your guest list.
  4. Rebuild your confirmation and reminder emails from Malvavisco’s English, Spanish and Portuguese templates.

We check it with you before you switch. Past bookings stay in Mallard Bay, so keep its export. The migration is free; Malvavisco’s subscription is quoted after a demo, as always. Malvavisco has no self-serve import tool, so a person on our team does the move.

What Mallard Bay exports

  • Clients. The Clients roster has an Export button that downloads your client data (source).
  • Payments and unpaid balances. Reporting exports both as CSV files, which show the deposits already paid and what is still owed (source).
  • Upcoming bookings. We found no bookings export in its help pages. Screenshots of the Bookings list or the calendar work as the checklist, and so do your listing and pricing pages.

What doesn’t move

  • Your booking widget, quote links and marketplace listing stop taking bookings, and Malvavisco has no booking engine to replace them.
  • If Mallard Bay built and hosts your website, plan a new site first; Malvavisco doesn’t build websites or run ads.
  • Stripe checkout, Group Pay, Tap to Pay and trip insurance end; payments taken on your own terminal are recorded by staff instead.
  • Signed waivers stay on each form’s Submissions tab in Mallard Bay. Download them before you cancel; Malvavisco has no waivers.
  • Your leads pipeline and past bookings stay in Mallard Bay.

When to switch

Between seasons, with some overlap if you can. Mallard Bay bills its subscription through Stripe, so check your renewal date in its billing portal before you pick a date (source).
